There is much to see, smell, touch and marvel at in the World Garden, if you are one of our
younger visitors. There are lots of wacky sculptures to look out for as you travel around the world; watch out for Colin the Cobra and the silver tree made from 51km of wire! The cactus house - Hot & Spikey - has some really strange specimens including 'alien eggs' and a plant that actually smells of dog poo.
To help children find their way around the World Garden, we have devised a Plant Hunter Quiz for the more intrepid plant hunters, as well as a House Quiz that allows you to unravel some of Lullingstone's mysteries.
Over Easter Weekend children were tasked with navigating the World Garden on their own plant hunting mission, with the reward of an Easter Egg for successful explorers.
In May 2012 we had another gun powder-packed Medieval Weekend (6th & 7th May), complete with firing canons, a battle re-enactment, archers and campfires.
In July 2012 we have our exciting Plant Hunters' Weekend (21st & 22nd July) when Tom, the certified 'plant nut' dresses up and takes visitors on a trip around the world, 'travelling' from the Edwardian period to the present day.
Or simply join us for a picnic - you can settle by the lake or the garden, and there are cakes, sandwiches, teas and Kentish ice-creams for sale.
Come and visit us soon!
“Just to say a huge thank you for taking us round the world garden a few weeks ago. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and I am still hearing mention of your name”, school teacher, Kent, May 2011
