Introduction to MoCHA
MoCHA (Museum of Culinary History and Alimentation) aims to inspire people to learn more about food – its origins, history, technologies, and impact on our diverse cultures.
Food lies at the heart of our society but most of us know little about where it comes from, how it is preserved, distributed and cooked. Many of us know little about nutrition and don’t have the skills necessary to ensure a healthy diet. Few recognise the contribution that food and cooking from around the world have made to British culture.
MoCHA has organised exhibitions, and created learning resources on a wide range of food related topics to help us learn more about this fascinating subject.
The Americas Kitchen Garden display at the World Garden in Lullingstone explores some of the most important food crops to come from North and South America. These will include potatoes, chillies, tomatoes, and a unique method of planting beans, maize and squash, known as the three sisters.
