Tom enthuses about the evolution of the World Garden and its humble beginnings coupled with what it’s like being a modern day plant hunter travelling our green globe in search of rare exotic plant life. Tom also recounts his nine-month kidnap ordeal at the hands of Colombian Rebels whilst Orchid Hunting in Colombia in 2000.

Above left, Tom is pictured with the world’s largest flower spike - Puya raimondii in Central Peru, and right, in the deserts of Peru where it hasn’t rained for years – eating a watermelon while observing air plants, December 2009.

There is so much to talk about in the World Garden as it grows and develops year on year. Above left is Kniphofia caulescens – Red Hot Poker in the South African section of the World Garden with metal Baobab and above right is Helianthus in the North American section.
